Summary

Yesterday, Russia imposed new sanctions on over 300 Canadian officials and public figures in response to Canadian restrictions on Moscow.

As a result, we recommend that all Canadian companies and their employees increase their digital vigilance and be extra cautious when using technology, as there are already indications that this may lead to increased cyber threats directly targeting Canadian organizations and interests.

We ask that all customers and their employees be careful when clicking on links, downloading software or responding to emails.

Actions

To protect yourself and your organization, Microsoft and the BOXX Hackbusters team recommends the following:

  • Immediately installing the latest security patch on all digital devices (computers, mobile) and servers to ensure existing vulnerabilities can’t be exploited.
  • Keeping a close eye on any new system patches to avoid triggering cyber vulnerabilities.
  • Verifying that your IT Service Desk updates all of their systems.
